Dark undereye circles can not only make an individual appear exhausted, but may also be the sign of a more serious problem. Sometimes reaction to a prescription medication can cause the dark circles as can any problem with the kidney or liver. More often, the dark undereye circles are due to skin damage or simply a hereditary trait.
In the case of the latter, dark circles appear in the skin because of an excess of pigmentation and are often more prevalent in those with darker skin tones. While there are many good cosmetic skin bases that help disguise the appearance of hyper-pigmentation, some people prefer to fade the discoloration with specifically formulated skin bleach.
Changes in the diet can be beneficial to remedy dark undereye circles, particularly reducing the amount of salt in the diet and increasing fluid intake. It is also vital to treat the undereye skin carefully, applying any skin creams without pulling or tugging at the skin. Undereye skin is easily damaged due to the fact that it is so thin, meaning that any broken capillaries under the surface will be more visible, resulting in dark circles. Using an undereye cream that contains an ingredient to repair the capillaries, such as Hesperidin, will improve the appearance of the skin, as will any substance that strengthens the skins connective tissue.
With proper care and preventative steps, dark undereye circles will seem less apparent, making the individual look more youthful and well rested.
